A test strip for self-monitoring blood glucose for use with the Accu-Chek device. Robust and easy to handle, it features a large Y-shaped suction area, called Y-Easy Fill, which allows for simple and safe application of the blood sample with a minimal amount, only 0.6 microliters, using both the classic method and the AST method (blood sampling from alternative sites to the fingertip). Inside the strip there are 8 gold electrodes that perform over 150 automatic quality checks to ensure accurate results. They are able to verify the integrity of the strip and reagents based on external humidity and temperature, any damage to the strip, and the amount of blood deposited, with error signaling in case of insufficient blood and the possibility of re-dosing within 5 seconds. Each pack of strips contains a Smart Code for coding, which includes all information relating to the characteristics of the strips being used. The strip vial makes opening and closing easy thanks to a snap cap attached to the vial itself. Furthermore, the desiccant is uniformly distributed on the walls and offers better preservation of the strips.
