Description
Hypotonic solution intended for instillation on the ocular surface or on contact lenses, particularly in the presence of "dry eye" symptoms.
Thanks to its high content of sodium hyaluronate (0.4%) and the presence of salts such as magnesium and potassium, Oftaial Plus moisturizes and lubricates the ocular surface and reduces the risk of tear film instability. Furthermore, the peculiarity of Oftaial Plus's composition lies in the presence of taurine, the most physiologically abundant amino acid in the tear fluid and generally in all tissues of the anterior segment of the eye. Several studies show that the presence of taurine increases the percentage of cells that survive under hyperosmolar conditions. Hyperosmolarity, at the level of the tear film, is associated with the onset of "dry eye" symptoms.
Therefore, Oftaial Plus, despite not having a pharmacological effect, protects the corneal epithelium from possible damage caused by particular conditions that can lead to the onset of so-called "dry eye", such as:
- adverse climatic and environmental conditions such as wind, cold, sun, salt spray, air conditioning, smoke, smog or fine dust;
- particular conditions of ophthalmic stress due to the use of contact lenses or prolonged work at video terminals or microscopes.
The lubricating action is also useful when, in particular physical conditions or following the intake of certain medications, lacrimation is reduced, such as during menopause and during diabetes treatment.
Furthermore, for contact lens wearers, Oftaial Plus allows the lens itself to be lubricated and hydrated to facilitate its application or removal, contributing to a feeling of comfort throughout the day.

Directions for use
Oftaial Plus should be dosed individually according to one's condition and based on the recommendations of one's ophthalmologist. In general, instill 1-2 drops of the solution into the conjunctival sac of each eye as needed, even several times a day.
For use with contact lenses: instill one drop on each lens at the time of application or removal. Repeat if necessary, even several times a day.
Detach a single vial from the strip.
To open the vial, remove the upper tab by rotating it, taking care to place it on a clean surface so that it can be reused for subsequent closing of the vial.
Instill 1-2 drops of Oftaial Plus into the conjunctival sac of each eye, letting them fall from above.
Close the vial by inserting the tab immediately after use.
For use with contact lenses: instill one drop of Oftaial Plus into the cavity of each lens at the time of application or removal.

Composition
100 ml of solution contain: sodium hyaluronate 0.4 g, taurine 0.5 g, sodium chloride, magnesium chloride, potassium chloride, monobasic sodium phosphate, dibasic sodium phosphate, water p.p.i.

Warnings
Do not use in case of hypersensitivity to the components or other strictly related substances from a chemical point of view.
Oftaial Plus is for external use only.
Oftaial Plus should not be used immediately before the administration of medicinal products for therapeutic purposes, and within ten minutes after the application of any topical pharmacological therapy.
To reduce the risk of contamination during use, the aluminum bag should only be opened immediately before product use.
Each vial must be used by only one person.
Avoid direct contact of the tip of the vial with fingers, eye, contact lens or any other surface.
Also avoid contact of the tip of the vial with dirt or dust.
In rare cases, slight blurring of vision has been observed upon instillation, which is due to the density of the solution. This sensation, however, disappears very quickly.
It is possible, in some rare cases, for intolerance (burning sensation and/or irritation) to occur, which is nevertheless without consequences and does not require modification of the treatment. However, it is advisable to contact your ophthalmologist if the symptoms persist.
Following the instructions contained in the package insert reduces the risk of undesirable effects.
Do not use the solution after the expiry date indicated on the package.
Keep out of reach of children.

Storage
Oftaial Plus should be stored at a temperature between 2°C and 25°C.
Shelf life with intact packaging: 24 months.
