Flax Seeds
Ideal as part of a high-fiber diet and regular physical activity.
These reddish-brown seeds, 4-5 mm long, aid defecation.
Ideal for constipation: flax seeds, in fact, upon contact with water in the stomach, form a type of mucilage that softens the stools and increases their volume.
This increase stimulates peristalsis, meaning the expulsion of feces by the intestine.
As it is more of an emollient than a laxative, a sort of facilitator for the passage of feces, it can be used frequently.
It also helps to soothe irritated mucous membranes, perhaps from the use of too many laxatives.
How to use
Two recipes are recommended for taking flax seeds:
1) Take 4 or 5 teaspoons of seeds, crush them, let them soak for twenty minutes, filter the drink and consume it.
2) For those on a diet, ingest a couple of tablespoons of seeds and then drink one or two glasses of water.
The seeds will pass through the intestine, increasing in volume and releasing emollient substances, but will exit still whole.
Thus, the fats they are rich in will not be absorbed by the intestine.
Warnings
Flax seeds do not interact with other medications.
The main side effect is possible flatulence.
Experts advise against using them for children under six years of age and for those suffering from intestinal obstruction and esophageal narrowing.
Format
200 g pack.
