Description
Antimicrobial absorbent polyurethane foam dressing with a soft silicone selective micro-adherence contact layer.
Outer polyurethane film permeable to water vapor and impermeable to liquids and bacteria.
Absorbent and flexible open-cell polyurethane foam pad with vertical absorption, grey in color, containing silver sulfate and activated carbon.
Wound contact layer made of soft Safetac silicone. The soft silicone Safetac technology applied to Molnlycke dressings minimizes pain for patients and trauma to the lesion even in critical situations, or when exudate begins to dry:
- adapts to the irregular surface of the skin to create a larger contact area, which allows for better distribution of the force required for removal, preventing skin stripping;
- leaves no residue on the wound bed or on healthy skin;
- seals the wound edges, preventing exudate from spreading to the perilesional skin, minimizing the risk of maceration;
- does not adhere to moist surfaces, such as open wounds, but to the dry edges of the lesion.
The antimicrobial action of Mepilex Ag is ensured by the presence of a silver-based salt, silver sulfate, within the foam, which, upon contact with fluids, releases silver ions crucial for the specific antimicrobial action of the dressing.
Mepilex Ag is indicated for the management of low to moderately exuding wounds such as:
- lower limb ulcers;
- pressure ulcers;
- partial thickness burns;
- can be used on infected wounds as part of a treatment regimen under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional.

Warnings
- Must be used under the supervision of healthcare personnel.
- Do not use in case of known patient hypersensitivity to silver.
- Do not use together with oxidizing agents such as hypochlorite-based solutions or hydrogen peroxide.
- Qualified doctors/healthcare professionals should be aware that there is very limited data on the prolonged and repeated use of silver-containing dressings, particularly in children and infants.
- Do not use during radiotherapy or diagnostic examinations, such as X-rays, ultrasounds, diathermy, or magnetic resonance imaging.
- Avoid contact with electrodes or conductive gels during electronic measurements, e.g., electrocardiograms (ECG) and electroencephalograms (EEG).
- For external use only.
- May cause temporary discoloration of the wound bed and perilesional skin.
- Does not replace adequate systemic therapies necessary in the presence of clinical infections - In case of clinical infection, application does not exclude the need for systemic therapy or other appropriate treatment of the infection.
- No interactions with other topical treatments have been demonstrated.
- No potential interactions with cleaning solutions other than physiological saline or water have been demonstrated.
- Do not reuse. Reuse of the product may deteriorate its effectiveness and cause cross-contamination.

Storage
Store in a dry place at temperatures below 25 °C and protected from direct sunlight.
Shelf life of unopened packaging: 36 months.
