Description
Hyperproteic food for special medical purposes, consisting of undenatured whey proteins with high biological value (DIF16WPI), indicated for the dietary management of subjects with skeletal muscle mass loss (sarcopenia) due to protein malnutrition, aging, and/or chronic diseases. Sarcopenia requires the intake of high quantities of protein; however, the conditions in which it occurs are accompanied by loss of appetite, difficulty eating, and/or malnutrition. Whey protein isolate is particularly appropriate in this context due to its high concentration (≥ 92.5%), high biological value of the proteins provided, and their digestibility, which optimize absorption, thus promoting increased protein intake in the diet. Undenatured proteins represent a concentrated source of bioavailable cysteine, a precursor and conditioning nutrient for glutathione synthesis, whose cellular concentration decreases in conditions of protein deficiency. As glutathione is involved in protein synthesis, a greater intake of its precursor is particularly appropriate in the dietary management of sarcopenia. PROther 5 is indicated for oral and enteral nutrition with NGT and/or PEG for patients with chewing and swallowing problems.

Directions for use
It is recommended to take 1 or 2 sachets per day. Given its solubility, enteral administration via NGT and/or PEG of 1-2 sachets of PROther 5 diluted in 500-1,000 ml of water is permitted, based on the patient's fluid and protein needs, alone or in combination with other foods suitable for enteral administration, according to medical judgment.
For oral administration, pour 1 or 2 sachets of PROther 5 into a glass. Add 150-200 ml of water or any other cold beverage (milk, tea), or at room temperature. Stir briefly (without using a blender) and drink immediately.

Warnings
Use Prother under medical supervision. The product should not be used as the sole source of nutrition.
Keep out of reach of children under 3 years of age.

Storage
Store in a cool, dry place. The minimum shelf life refers to the product in intact packaging and correctly stored.
Shelf life unopened: 36 months.
