SILVERIN STICKS
Description
Class I medical device.
Silver nitrate sticks.
In small concentrations, silver nitrate has a bactericidal effect; in large concentrations, it has a corrosive effect, creating scabs. Potassium nitrate is the diluent, so that the silver nitrate reaction occurs mildly. The mixture is placed on a stick, like the head of a match, and can be used only once after being moistened. This medical product allows for use in specific areas so that the effect is precisely limited to concrete spots.
For the treatment of warts, umbilical cord remnants, skin growths, wound treatment, aphthous stomatitis, for stopping superficial bleeding and epistaxis (nosebleeds).
Instructions for use
Treat only small skin areas at a time.
For cutaneous use: prepare a clean, resistant support. Wash the area to be treated. Moisten the head of the sticks by briefly placing it under drops of water. The color of the head changes and becomes white or light gray. Clean or apply the head repeatedly in a precise and homogeneous manner to the area being treated. The treated area changes color in a short time and becomes black; within a few days, this area will be rejected by the surrounding tissue. Repeat the treatment every 2-3 days until the desired result is achieved.
Warnings
Do not use if allergic to silver nitrate or potassium nitrate. A change in color of the treated area may last up to 24 hours.
To treat any type of skin change that presents unusual changes in pigmentation or shape and is not clearly recognizable as "granulation tissue" or as a simple wart, the sticks should be used under medical supervision.
Do not touch the head (corrosive substance) of the silver nitrate stick with wet hands.
Protect clothing and other objects when handling the stick.
Silver nitrate causes black and brown stains that cannot be removed with ordinary detergents.
Wash thoroughly with water and a sponge any healthy skin that has involuntarily come into contact with the head of the stick; however, these areas of the skin may experience a harmless change in pigmentation, becoming darker. This change in pigmentation disappears after approximately 10-14 days.
If the stick comes into contact with the eye, rinse the eye immediately under running water with eyelids open for at least 5 minutes continuously and then consult a doctor.
In case of application in the mouth area, it is absolutely necessary to ensure that no parts of the head are swallowed.
Treatment of children under 3 years of age only after personal medical consultation.
Consult your doctor or pharmacist for advice before using this medical product during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or if you think you may be pregnant or plan to have a baby.
Keep out of reach of children.
Do not use after the expiry date. Do not dispose of with household waste.
Storage
Store the sticks in their original packaging, in a dry place, away from light.
Shelf life of unopened packaging: 48 months.
Format
1 stick.
