Tablets for dogs up to 10 kg. Directions for use
For the treatment of dogs: 1 tablet per 10 kg of body weight (15 mg febantel, 14.4 mg pyrantel embonate, and 5 mg praziquantel/kg body weight).
The dosages are as follows:
For every additional 5 kg of body weight, administer an additional half tablet.
Tablets can be given with or without food.
Before or after treatment, there is no need to restrict access to a normal diet.
Warnings
Fleas act as intermediate hosts for a common type of tapeworm - Dypylidium caninum.
If intermediate hosts, such as fleas, mice, etc., are not controlled, tapeworm infestation will certainly recur.
To minimize the risk of re-infestation or new infestation, feces should be collected and properly disposed of for 24 hours after treatment.
- Special precautions to be taken by the person administering the veterinary medicinal product to animals: In case of accidental ingestion, seek medical advice immediately and show the package leaflet or the label.
For good hygiene, wash hands after handling the tablets.
As it contains praziquantel, the product is effective against Echinococcus spp. which are not present in all EU member states, but are becoming more common in some.
Echinococcosis poses a risk to humans and is a notifiable disease to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
When echinococcosis is suspected, specific guidelines on treatment, follow-up, and safeguarding of people should be obtained from the relevant competent authority.
Teratogenic effects attributed to high doses of febantel, administered during the early stages of pregnancy, have been reported in rats, sheep, and dogs.
Since the safety of the product has not been studied during the 1st and 2nd trimesters of pregnancy, do not administer to pregnant bitches during these periods.
- Interaction with other veterinary medicinal products and other forms of interaction: The anthelminthic effects of this product and products containing piperazine may be antagonized when the two drugs are used together.
- Overdose: Doses of the product 10 times those recommended were tolerated by dogs and puppies without signs of adverse reactions.
