Dentinal sensitivity is the annoying or painful sensation that is felt when the dentin, one of the most sensitive parts of the tooth, becomes exposed, allowing external stimuli to reach the nerve endings located in the tooth's pulp. The causes of dentinal sensitivity can be multiple: gum recession, post-surgical trauma, but also insistent brushing with abrasive toothpastes or very hard toothbrushes.
