CILIACELL NASAL SPRAY CHILDREN

Description
Nasal spray indicated for purulent infectious rhinosinusitis (acute and chronic) to promote the evacuation of mucopurulent secretions from the naso-sinusal and eustachian tube district, decongest the naso-sinusal mucosa, and reactivate mucociliary clearance. It is useful in the treatment of purulent infectious rhinosinusitis and/or otitis media with effusion when there is a discharge of thick mucus (yellow, greenish, or white) from the nose or throat, and/or craniofacial pain (in one or more paranasal sinuses), and/or hyposmia (reduced sense of smell), in association with one or more of the following symptoms:
- Naso-sinusal congestion (especially if unilateral);
- Loss of smell (anosmia);
- Hearing loss (hypoacusis);
- Nosebleed.
The solution containing Cucurbitacins B-D4-E acts on the epithelial surface of the mucosa, causing electrolyte and osmotic changes that promote:
- The expulsion of mucopurulent secretions;
- The restoration of ciliary motility;
- The reduction of mucosal edema;
- The restoration of paranasal sinus pneumatization (air pressure in the paranasal sinuses).
Furthermore, Cucurbitacins B-D-I-E produce a surfactant effect on mucopurulent secretions, promoting their dilution and fluidification.

Instructions for use
For children (6-12 years)
Nasal Spray: 1 or 2 sprays per nostril, once or twice a day (morning and evening), for a cycle of 7 consecutive days. The 7-day treatment can be repeated after an interval of 6-7 days without treatment, based on clinical response and symptoms.
The dosage should be adjusted based on the tolerability of the product, the severity of symptoms, and the amount of mucopurulent secretions present in the naso-sinusal and/or eustachian tube district.
The duration of treatment can be adjusted based on clinical response and symptoms; however, the minimum duration of treatment is seven days: shorter treatments do not guarantee a tangible effect.
For chronic rhinosinusitis (including latent) or post-surgery, it is recommended to perform at least two cycles as indicated above, always separated by at least 6-7 days without treatment.
For nasal spray (children and adults)
1) Blow your nose to remove mucus or residue to allow the product to effectively reach the nasal areas.
2) Remove the dispenser's safety lock and protective cap.
3) Prime the pump by pressing 2-3 times until a regular mist is obtained.
4) Gently insert the dispenser into one nostril, keeping your head upright and slightly tilted forward.
5) Press the spray once while inhaling slowly through your nose.
6) Repeat in the other nostril following the same procedure.
Do not exhale or blow your nose immediately after spraying to avoid dispersing the product (wait 10-15 minutes). Use in children must be supervised or assisted by an adult.

Components
Functional substances: cucurbitacins B-D-I-E extracted from Ecballium elaterium. The quantity present in each formulation is reported on the individual product bottles.
Excipients: purified water Ph. Eur., ethyl alcohol, mint flavor, eucalyptol, methylparaben, propylparaben, polysorbate 80, sodium chloride, monosodium phosphate dihydrate (or citric acid monohydrate), disodium phosphate dodecahydrate (or sodium citrate dihydrate).

Warnings
- All administration operations must be performed gently, avoiding inserting the tip of the dispenser too deeply into the nostrils and maintaining an upright position during use.
- Close the bottle after each application.
- Store the product away from light and direct heat sources.
- Do not use the product for more than 14 consecutive days without consulting a doctor.
- For individuals with nasal vascular fragility, vasomotor rhinitis (allergic or non-allergic cell-mediated), or in the presence of chronic inflammation or post-surgery, it is advisable to start with only one spray per nostril per day. If well tolerated, after 2-3 days of treatment, the dosage can be increased to two sprays per nostril, twice a day (standard dosage).
- In case of burning, irritation, frequent sneezing, or tearing, reduce the dosage to only one spray per nostril per day; the burning generally disappears within a few minutes.
- CILIACELL may cause burning if applied to damaged or sensitized mucosa, for example, in the presence of chronic inflammation or prolonged use of decongestant/vasoconstrictor drugs.
- For children, use must be supervised by an adult.
Contraindications:
- Hypersensitivity (allergy) to Cucurbitacins B-D-I-E or other components of the product;
- Untreated viral or bacterial infections of the upper respiratory tract;
- Acute otitis media with effusion without medical supervision; - Use in pregnant women and children under the indicated age or in the presence of conditions requiring specific medical evaluation.
The most frequent effects are:
- Rhinorrhea (evacuation of transparent, yellow-green, or white fluid mixed with mucus), which promotes decongestion and the restoration of patency of the upper respiratory tract.
Also may occur:
- Temporary nasal mucosal congestion with a feeling of a blocked nose;
- Intensification of symptoms during the first days of treatment (craniofacial pain);
- Burning in the nostrils immediately after administration;
- Sneezing and tearing.
The rarer effects are:
- Throat and palate irritations;
- Small streaks of blood in the evacuated mucus (epistaxis), especially in individuals with nasal vascular fragility.
- Slight fever (only for a few hours during the first days of treatment).
Overdosing the product increases the likelihood of the described side effects occurring. If persistent or severe side effects occur, discontinue use and consult a doctor or pharmacist.
All operations must be performed gently: avoid inserting the tip of the dispenser too deeply into the nostrils and maintain an upright position during application.
After each administration:
- Close the bottle tightly;
- Do not expose to direct light;
- Store away from heat sources.
If you experience intense burning, persistent irritation, frequent sneezing, or tearing: reduce to one spray per nostril per day or temporarily suspend - these effects are generally transient.
Specific warnings:
- Overdosing is absolutely not recommended;
- Use in combination with sympathomimetic drugs is not recommended;
- The solution for aerosol therapy must be administered exclusively through a micronized nasal shower. Do not use nebulizers with masks or oral mouthpieces specific for treating the lower respiratory tract;
- Do not use the product after the expiry date;
- The CILIACELL solution is not sterile and is not injectable;
- Keep the product out of the reach and sight of children;
- Do not use the product if the bottle is not intact and well sealed.
